About Me

Hello, I’m Ron Zhang. I was born in Nanjing, China. My family and I moved to Houston, TX when I was 9 years old. My dad taught me how to draw when I was little, and I’ve loved drawing ever since. This shaped my interest in the fine arts field and eventually lead to my studies in visual design.

I developed my interaction and visual design skills as early as 1994 while attending Alief-Hastings High School in Houston, Texas. Our school had one of the best digital media art programs in the nation. In my college life, I was able to work as a visual designer in a variety of settings within campus, such as The Daily Texan, The College of Natural Science, The College of Communication, and The School of Architecture. I joined Connective Inc, a full-service design firm based in Austin, TX in the summer of 2001. As part of a small group of designers, we not only provided local businesses and start-ups with brand identity and website design services, but also worked extensively on our own venture capital project. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003, with a BFA degree in Studio Art with emphasis in transitional media.

After I graduated from college, I traveled and worked for a year in Asia for one of the leading high-tech companies in Taiwan, and returned to the States in 2004. With over 14 years of design experiences in Texas, overseas, and in California, I’m currently working full-time as a senior rich media designer in the heart of Silicon Valley, California.

In my spare time, I enjoy taking photographs so that I can reinterpret nature’s beauty using my unique point of view. I also enjoy creating improvised music to capture every single remarkable and sentimental moment that cannot be put in words. It is my belief that this world can be portrayed in a hundred different ways – the things that we see, the places we go, and the people that we meet. This site is merely a glimpse of what I have experienced so far.

I hope you enjoy visiting my site, and don’t forget to check out my wallpapers and art.
